up and coming
i ended up with a pretty nasty sunburn this weekend, so i've been letting it heal, makeup-free. today is the first day i've worn makeup since last week, and i think i went overboard with the purple eyeshadow, but i love it anyway.
coming up, i'm working with a few friends and melissa from incandescent photography to build a solid portfolio. i can't wait to have it done and on my website so that you can really see some different looks. i have several models, and i'll be working on everything from ultra glamorous to every day and fresh faced.
i'm really excited about what's coming up in the future for studio karyuukai, and i can't wait to share everything with you all.

birthday makeup
so last saturday was an early birthday party for me and a friend, so i decided to do the makeup up extra glamorous. this is a shot i took with my iphone to try to get a close up of my eyes.
i used mac pigments in rose and dark soul, and bare escentuals moon goddess as an underbrow highlighter. i used rose all over my lid, dark soul in the crease, then blended it with more rose.
the lipstick i'm wearing is really just mac lipliner plum royale filled in on my entire lip, then covered with sephora's bronzed beauty lipgloss. overall, very satisfied.

mid-day mini-makeover
my cousin, katy, is 19, and obsessed with the typical heavy eyeliner, avril lavinge type of look. while i'm not against this look, she has somewhat smaller eyes, and i wanted to bring them open and really emphasize the beautiful blue-green color of them. so i stopped by her house and did her up.
please note: i am no photographer, so please ignore the horrid angles and focus on the lovely color palette of the eyes. all eye color is by mac and all foundation and cover-up is by bare escentuals.

makeup foundations
The core to any woman's makeup is her foundation. What you must decide is exactly what kind of finish do you want - do you want something natural, something matte, something glamorous? Eye shadow and lipstick is important, but your face sets the pallet.
I've used Bare Escentuals foundation for years; what I love about it is that it gives my skin a natural finish and covers without looking like foundation typically looks. You hear them say it on the infomercials, and I've found it to be true - it doesn't look caked on. On top of my foundation I use their Mineral Veil product, and recently started using Mineralize Skinfinish Trio by MAC in the color Smooth Merge. I sweep a large face brush over the entire compact for my entire face, then use a tapered blush brush swept across the middle of the compact for my cheeks.
Together, I've found it gives a natural look with shimmer that can be built upon for going out at night, or to minimize during the day by playing down the eyes and lips, but still having the hint of glamor and sophistication.
